Hampton Bays Elementary School recently celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month with a week of lessons, themed spirit days and live music highlighting Hispanic culture, history and contributions.

Throughout the week, students paired classroom learning with activities celebrating heritage and diversity. On Hispanic Greatness Day, for example, they dressed as Hispanic leaders and influential figures. For Diversity Day, they wore clothing and accessories featuring the colors of flags representing their own heritage.

The celebration culminated with a lively assembly featuring Latin band Los Ciegos del Barrio, whose performance introduced students to a variety of Latin musical styles and rhythms.
