New York State Education Law mandates that a school district must provide transportation for children in grades K-8 residing two or more miles from school and for students in grades 9-12 residing three or more miles from school. The Hampton Bays Board of Education, by voter-approved proposition, provides transportation to and from school for students in grades k-12 who live more than one mile from school. Buses for the Hampton Bays Schools are contracted through Montauk Bus Company.
