Hampton Bays fifth graders explore the water cycle with the DEC

Hampton Bays Middle School fifth grade students recently welcomed representatives from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation for an engaging lesson on the water cycle and the importance of protecting the environment. During an interactive activity, the students followed the journey of a water molecule as it traveled through different parts of the environment. The lesson also explored the impact of pollution on water sources, how vegetation helps prevent soil erosion, and the important role wetlands and groundwater play in maintaining a healthy environment. Through this real-world connection, students learned how everyday environmental factors can affect the quality and availability of water resources.
