2024 Hampton Bays UFSD Budget Vote & Board of Education Election

The Annual Budget Vote and Election will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, from 7:00 am - 9:00 pm in the Hampton Bays Middle School Gymnasium, 70 Ponquogue Avenue, Hampton Bays.

1. To adopt the annual budget of the Hampton Bays Union Free School District for the fiscal year 2024-2025 and to authorize the requisite portion thereof to be raised by taxation on the taxable property of the District.
2. To elect two (2) members of the Board of Education for three-year terms commencing July 1, 2024, and expiring on June 30, 2027.
   

A Public Hearing of the qualified voters of the Southampton Union Free School District, Town of Southampton, Suffolk County, New York, will be held in the Hampton Bays High School Cafeteria, 88 Argonne Road East, Hampton Bays, NY on May 7, 2024, at 7:00 p.m., prevailing time, for the transaction of business as authorized by the Education Law, including the following items: 

1. To present to the voters a detailed statement of the amount of money which will be required for the 2024-2025 fiscal year.
   
2. To discuss all the items hereinafter set forth to be voted upon at the Budget Vote and Election to be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2024.
   
3. To transact such other business as may properly come before the meeting pursuant to Education Law of the State of New York and acts amendatory thereto.

Petitions nominating candidates for the office of member of the Board of Education shall be filed with the District Clerk at her office at 86 Argonne Road East, Hampton Bays, New York, 11946, not later than April 22, 2024, 5:00 p.m., prevailing time.  Each petition shall be directed to the Clerk of the District by mail (86 Argonne Road East, Hampton Bays, NY 11946), email (mlawson@hbschools.us) or fax (631-723-2109); must be signed by no less than 25 qualified voters of the district and must state the name and residence of the candidate. Vacancies on the Board of Education are not considered separate, specific offices; candidates run at large.  Nominating petitions shall not describe any specific vacancy upon the Board for which the candidate is nominated. Application for an Early Voter Ballot:

1. Can be received no earlier than April 22, 2024
   
2. Can be received no later than May 14, 2024, if the early voter ballot is to be mailed to the voter
   
3. Can be received no later than May 20, 2024, if the early voter ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter
   
4. School District Early Voter Ballot Application (English)

Early Voter Ballots must be received by the District Clerk not later than Monday, May 20, 2024, if delivered personally OR no later than 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, if delivered by mail. All ballots must be returned in the provided envelope with the attestation on the envelope signed by the qualified voter.

Application for an Absentee Ballot:

1. Can be received no earlier than April 22, 2024
   
2. Can be received no later than May 14, 2024, if the absentee ballot is to be mailed to the voter
   
3. Can be received no later than May 20, 2024, if the absentee ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter
   
4. School District Absentee Ballot Application (English)

Absentee Ballots must be received by the District Clerk not later than Monday, May 20, 2024, if delivered personally OR no later than 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, if delivered by mail. All ballots must be returned in the provided envelope with the attestation on the envelope signed by the qualified voter.

Military voters who are not currently registered may apply to register as qualified voters of the school district. An application for registration as a military voter can be requested by contacting the District Clerk at 631-723-2100, ext. 5106 or mlawson@hbschools.us; the application for registration must be received in the office of the clerk no later than 5:00 pm on May 7, 2024. In the request for an application for registration, the military voter is permitted to designate his/her preference for receiving the application for registration by mail, facsimile transmission or electronic mail.

Military voters who are qualified voters of the district may submit an application for a military ballot by contacting the District Clerk at 631-723-2100, ext. 5106 or mlawson@hbschools.us; in order to receive a military ballot, the military ballot application must be received no later than 5:00 pm on April 25, 2024, which is the day preceding the last day for transmission of military ballots. In the request for an application for a military ballot, the military voter is permitted to designate his/her preference for receiving the application for a military ballot, and the military ballot, by mail, facsimile transmission or electronic mail. All qualified military voters’ ballot application and military ballot must be returned by mail or in person.  Ballots for military voters shall be distributed to qualified military voters no later than April 25, 2024. Military ballots must be received (1) by the District Clerk not later than 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, and must show a cancellation mark of the United States postal service or a foreign country’s postal service, or must show a dated endorsement of receipt by another agency of the United States Government; or (2) not later than 5:00 pm on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, and be signed and dated by the military voter and one witness, with a date ascertained to be not later than the day before the election. 

Votación del presupuesto de Hampton Bays UFSD de 2024 y elección de la Junta de Educación

La Votación y Elección del Presupuesto Anual se llevará a cabo el martes 21 de mayo de 2024, de 7:00 a.m. a 9:00 p.m. en el Gimnasio de la Escuela Secundaria Hampton Bays, 70 Ponquogue Avenue, Hampton Bays.

1. Adoptar el presupuesto anual del Distrito Escolar Libre de la Unión de Hampton Bays para el año fiscal 2024-2025 y autorizar que la parte requerida del mismo se recaude mediante impuestos sobre la propiedad imponible del Distrito.
2. Elegir a dos (2) miembros de la Junta de Educación por períodos de tres años a partir del 1 de julio de 2024 y hasta el 30 de junio de 2027.

El  7 de mayo de 2024, a las 7:00 p.m., hora prevaleciente, se llevará a cabo una audiencia pública de los votantes calificados del Distrito Escolar Libre de Hampton Bays , Ciudad de Hampton Bays , Condado de Suffolk, Nueva York, en la cafetería de la escuela secundaria Hampton Bays, 88 Argonne Road East, Hampton Bays, NY, para la transacción de negocios según lo autorizado por la Ley de Educación.  incluyendo los siguientes elementos:

Las boletas de voto ausente deben ser recibidas por el Secretario del Distrito a más tardar el lunes 20 de mayo de 2024, si se entregan personalmente O a más tardar a las 5:00 p.m. del martes 21 de mayo de 2024, si se entregan por correo. Todas las boletas deben devolverse en el sobre provisto con la certificación en el sobre firmada por el votante calificado.

Los votantes militares que no están registrados actualmente pueden solicitar registrarse como votantes calificados del distrito escolar.
