Hampton Bays Thrower Impresses at State Championship

Hampton Bays High School shot put thrower Timothy Kraycar recently competed in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships after winning the Division 2 title at the state qualifier with a season-best throw of 45 feet. Kraycar placed 14th at the state championship in Division 2 with a throw of 39 feet, 6-3/4 inches. He is pictured with fellow Hampton Bays track stars Bryona Hayes, Asha Pensa and Maizie Poulakis.

Hampton Bays Track Stars Advance To States, Showcase Skills

Three Hampton Bays High School girls track stars showcased their incredible athletic skills at the New York State Championships.

Pole vaulter Maizie Poulakis tied for third place at the state championship with a jump of 9 feet, 6 inches. For her skill, she earned All-State Honors. She achieved a vault of the same height at the state qualifier meet and previously won the Suffolk County Championship with a jump of 9 feet, 3 inches.

Discus thrower Asha Pensa advanced to the state championship after winning the Division II discus at the state qualifier meet with a throw of 111 feet, 10 inches. At the state championship she threw 96 feet, 8 inches and placed 12th in Division II schools.

After winning the 400-meter in Division II at the state qualifier with a time of 60.68, runner Bryona Hayes advanced to states, where she placed ninth in Division II with a time of 61.56.

The Hampton Bays School District congratulates each of these athletes on their successes.
