The Hampton Bays Union Free School District's Office of School Safety is responsible for the districtwide school safety program which is intended to protect Hampton Bays' students and staff in support of the district's educational goals.
The term "school safety" refers to and includes the critical and necessary environment in which effective teaching and learning can take place. School safety supports student learning by creating and promoting a physically, emotionally, socially, and academically secure climate for students, staff, and visitors.
Through to collaboration, communication, and continuous improvement, the Office of School Safety:
- Mitigates against the effects of hazardous events by identifying hazards, preparing for and responding to, and managing the recovery from emergencies.
- Provides training and ongoing support for staff, students, and families that includes violence prevention, mental health awareness, and emergency response.
