Office of Student Services
Mark Pagano, Assistant Superintendent for Student Services
(631) 723-4700 ext. 2211
The goal of the Hampton Bays Office of Student Services is to provide within a nurturing environment, well-balanced programs that will enable all students to reach their highest level of academic and social success. The staff is committed to creating a student-centered educational environment that stresses high expectations and addresses the physical, social and emotional needs of children with a variety of ability levels and learning styles. Our goal is to maintain an active partnership involving students, teachers, parents, community and staff to develop a love of learning while embracing our diversity and unique talents in a safe, challenging, respectful and supportive environment.
The Office of Student Services provides a full range of services to all children ages 3 to 21 in the areas of Special Education, Section 504 Accommodations, Counseling, Speech Therapy, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Vision and Hearing Services, other Related Services, and Educational Evaluations. As such, when students have difficulty in school despite attempts at remediation through research based early intervention services, school personnel or parents can submit a request for an evaluation to the building principal or directly to the Committee on Special Education (CSE). Parents and early childhood educators who are concerned about a preschooler’s development can submit a request for evaluation to the Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE) by contacting the Office of Student Services directly at (631) 723-4700 ext. 2208 to begin the evaluation process. The evaluation, under CSE or CPSE, will include any procedures, tests, assessments, or observations given to determine whether the student has an educational disability and is eligible for special education and/or related services. Recommendations from this evaluation may or may not include classification of the child as a student with a disability.
All students including those with disabilities are encouraged to participate in interscholastic programs. Contact your child’s home school or the Office of Student Services (723-4700) for information.
INCLEMENT WEATHER: Please note that if school is closed due to inclement weather, all CSE and CPSE meetings will be cancelled and rescheduled. If there is a delayed school opening due to inclement weather, please note that all meetings prior to 10:30 a.m. will be rescheduled.
