My Story - Student #18

A minha experiência foi muito boa  e tudo aconteceu muito do nada. Em 2021 o meu irmão disse que queria ir pro estados unidos, mas até então minha família não pensava em em vim pra cá, eu sempre tive vontade de conhecer outro país e aprender a falar inglês,  mas em 2022 os meus pais estavam passando por um momento difícil com a empresa deles e passando por uma  má fase psicológica. Até que a minha mãe decidiu que tentaria o visto americano.

 Passamos pelo processo todo, confesso que foi mais fácil do que eu imaginava. Conseguimos tirar o visto em setembro do ano passado.  A gente chegou aqui em agosto, foi uma experiência fácil mas com momentos difíceis pois, me despedir da minha vó, tios, meus amigos e  uma amiga de infância foram momentos que me deixaram muito triste.

 Você passará dificuldades como  todas pessoas passam pois é difícil mudar de país, deixar seus amigos, família sua vida toda e tomar coragem de começar outra vida, é complicado mas todas as pessoas passam por isso para se firmarem aqui e terem uma vida melhor. Terão oportunidades  incríveis, eu por exemplo estou aprendendo duas línguas, mas a vida e assim temos que fazer escolhas para no futuro sermos uma pessoa melhor.

My experience was very good and everything happened out of the blue. In 2021, my brother said he wanted to go to the United States, but until then my family didn't think about coming here. I always wanted to visit another country and learn to speak English, but in 2022 my parents were going through a difficult time with their marriage and going through a lot until my mother decided that she would try to get an American visa.

We went through the whole process, I confess it was easier than I imagined. We managed to get our visa in September last year, and we arrived here in August. It was an easy experience but with difficult moments because, saying goodbye to my grandmother, uncles, my friends, and a childhood friend. These were moments that made me very sad.

My advice to new students:

You will certainly go through difficulties like everyone else goes through because it is difficult to change countries; leave your friends, family, your whole life and find the courage to start another life. It is complicated but everyone goes through this to establish themselves here and have a better life, they will have incredible opportunities. For example I am learning two languages–English and Spanish–, but in life and so on we have to make choices so that we can be a better person in the future. You will certainly go through difficulties like everyone else goes through to find the courage to start another life.
