My Story - Student #2

La noticia que me dieron el primero de agosto de 2022 fue feliz porque mi hermano y yo nos íbamos a ver de nuevo y  somos muy unidos. Triste a la vez porque iba a dejar mi tierra donde pasé muchos años porque iba a dejar a mi hermana, a mi papá y a mis amigos tener el miedo que no iba a encontrar amigos en un país desconocido. Estaba pensando que iba a dejar de hacer lo que me gustaba hacer para venirme aquí a este país desconocido. Antes de salir, viajé más de 1500 km para ver a mi papá porque él no vivía con nosotros. Fue muy duro pensar que él se quedaría triste, pero sin importar que sabía que valdría la pena viajar tanto para llegar donde él estaba. Pasé los dos mejores días. Él se quedó en mi país, Guatemala, pero  disfruté el tiempo con mi papá. Sabía que el camino para acá iba a ser difícil, así que le di muchos abrazos porque llevaba un año y medio sin verlo. El camino para acá a los Estados Unidos fue muy fácil aunque estaba cansado.

Ahora que ya llegue a mi destino que es New York, se me hace mucho más fácil hacer cosas, comprar herramientas y en la escuela me va mejor.

The news they gave me on August 1, 2022 was happy because my brother and I were going to see each other again and we are very close. Sad at the same time, because I was going to leave my land where I spent many years. Sad because I was going to leave my sister, my father.  My friends were afraid that I would not find friends in an unknown country. I was thinking that I was going to stop doing what I liked to do to come here to this unknown country. Before I left, I traveled more than 1500 km to see my dad because he didn't live with us. It was very hard to think that he would be sad, but regardless of the fact, I knew that it would be worth traveling so much to get to where he was. I had the two best days ever. My dad stayed behind in my country, Guatemala, but I enjoyed spending time with him. I knew that the road here was going to be difficult, so I gave him a lot of hugs because I hadn't seen him in a year and a half. The road here to the United States was very easy even though I was tired.

Now that I have arrived at my destination, which is New York, it is much easier for me to do things with tools, and I am doing better at school.
