My Story - Student #20

Al saber la noticia de mi llegada a este país, me emocioné un poco ya que íbamos a tener un mejor futuro, ya que se supone que la educación en este país es mucho mejor. Sobre eso, íbamos a aprender demasiado inglés; lo cual nos va a mejorar bastante la vida. Estábamos muy emocionados pero por otra parte demasiado asustados. Al pasar el tiempo fui viendo que podíamos tener una mejor calidad de vida y tener muchas cosas las cuales no teníamos en Colombia, digamos algunos lujos. En este momento estoy estudiando, aprendiendo inglés y conociendo personas, lugares, culturas y todo tipo de cosas en esta nueva vida. Como decimos en mi casa, el principio es lo más duro y difícil de este país. No es como me lo imaginaba pero llegamos para salir adelante. Estamos aquí para conseguir un mejor y más esperanzador futuro.

Al principio todo se verá un poco oscuro pero luego de que va transcurriendo el tiempo te vas acostumbrando, te vas adaptando a tu nueva vida y conociendo muchas personas, costumbres.

Upon hearing the news of my arrival in this country, I was a little excited since we were going to have a better future, since education in this country is supposed to be much better. We were going to learn a lot of English which was going to improve our lives a lot. We were very excited, but on the other hand, scared. As time went by, I saw that we could have a better quality of life and have many things that we did not have in Colombia, let's say some luxuries. At this moment I am studying, learning English and getting to know people, places, cultures and all kinds of things in this new life. As we say in my house, the beginning is the hardest and most difficult part of being in this country. It's not how I imagined it, but we're here to get ahead. We are here to achieve a better and more hopeful future.

At first everything will seem a little dark but as time goes by you get used to it, you adapt to your new life and meet many people and learn new customs.
