My Story: Student #40

Student artwork

The day I left Ecuador I went through Colombia, and from there I went through different countries. Before going to Panama, I had a crazy experience; I had to camp in the jungle. First, I had to go through a path until I was able to catch a boat where I would go through a river full of alligators, but apparently they were babies. In fact, they had a smaller stature so they were somewhat harmless. After crossing said river, I went through a path full of mud where it was very difficult to walk. Some people who had money rode horses, but I had to walk three kilometers through mud even though we were going slowly. In the end, we reached the highway and thus we were able to leave Panama.

After leaving Panama, I went through Costa Rica, where I had approximately six days to get out of there. The food was good, and the day we left Costa Rica for Nicaragua we had to pass through a long orange grove. We spent two hours walking until we left the orange grove towards Nicaragua. When we left, we went back by boat until we reached Nicaragua. The lake we passed was also surrounded by crocodiles. We spent four days in Nicaragua where we ate only a little because there were no restaurants. To leave Nicaragua we took a bus that dropped us off near the border, where we walked to Honduras where to present to receive the safe-conduct guide. From Honduras we began to take cars until we reached the Guatemalan border, where we stayed in a hotel for half a day, since that same day we took transportation to Mexico.

In Mexico we went through Oaxaca to Veracruz. In Veracruz we ate a little and went to Puebla. We stayed in Puebla for two days, then we took transportation to Mexico City, and from Mexico City we went to Piedras Negras, crossed the river, and turned ourselves into migration.
