The Hampton Bays School District is pleased to announce that 37 members of its Class of 2024 will graduate with a New York State Seal of Biliteracy on their diplomas.

The students earned this credential through several combinations of criteria, including achieving proficiency in English and either Spanish, Bulgarian or Urdu. Additionally, they completed presentations, language assessments and advanced coursework and maintained a course average above 85 in multiple classes.

The intent of the seal is to encourage students to study languages, identify high school graduates with language and biliteracy skills for employers, provide universities with additional information about applicants seeking admission and placement, prepare students with 21st-century skills, recognize the value of language instruction and affirm the value of diversity in a multilingual society.

The Hampton Bays School District extends its congratulations to its students who earned the seal.
