Hampton Bays Middle School Assistant Principal Dr. Jonathan DellaSperanza was recently recognized as the Administrator of the Year by the East End Counselors Association.

DellaSperanza earned the award following a nomination by the middle school counseling department for “[his] unparalleled dedication to supporting the school counseling program, fostering academic innovation, and championing the well-being of students, staff and the counseling team.” One of his most notable contributions is his commitment to expanding opportunities for students through the creation of new elective classes. He has played a pivotal role in redesigning and recoding the master schedule, a task that requires meticulous planning, strategic thinking and a deep understanding of student needs. Through his innovative approach, DellaSperanza has optimized the scheduling process to maximize student engagement, minimize conflicts and enhance the overall efficiency of the academic program. His impact extends far beyond the confines of the school walls, shaping the lives of students and staff alike and leaving a legacy of excellence.

Prior to serving as the assistant principal of Hampton Bays Middle School, DellaSperanza was a first-grade special education teacher in the district, followed by five years as the K-4 STEAM educator. He earned his master's degree and Doctor of Education from St. John's University.
