My Story - Student #14

Expectativas.

Todos los migrantes tienen diferentes expectativas de cómo son los Estados Unidos. Algunos buscan oportunidades económicas para poder ayudar a sus familias que dejaron en su país o para estudiar. Algunos migrantes vienen a aquí para reunirse con sus familias, iniciar una nueva vida, salir adelante y algunos escapan de conflictos violentos. Lo que yo busco aquí son nuevas oportunidades para salir adelante y tener un mejor futuro.

Lo que pensé de los Estados Unidos es que sería como lo que veía en la TV. Cuando decidí venir pensé que tendría nuevas oportunidades para poder tener una buena educación, poder ayudar a mi familia que deje en mi país. Para mi los Estados Unidos es un país de nuevas oportunidades para iniciar una nueva vida. Ir a la escuela a aprender hablar el inglés y poder conocer nuevos lugares que no has visto. 

Cuando asistí mi primer día en la High School fue un poco incómodo ya que no conocía a nadie en la escuela y siempre me confundía cuando iba a mis clases pero había una niña que me ayudó cuando me perdía en las clases y siempre estuvo conmigo todo el año escolar.

Consejos.

Un consejo para los que recién llegaron a este país y entraron recientemente a la escuela me gustaría decirles que no dejen de perseguir sus sueños y que sigan adelante. No dejen de ir a la escuela ya que la escuela les brinda un gran apoyo para salir adelante, tener una mejor vida y para que consigan un buen empleo en el futuro. 

Espero que establezca bien cuáles son sus objetivos, nunca olviden de dónde vienen y cuales son sus culturas, que disfruten al máximo su juventud y que no dependan de los demás para salir adelante y simplemente asistan a la escuela.

Le doy las gracias a mi madre por haberme traído a este país de nuevas oportunidades donde podré salir adelante en el futuro y espero poder regresar todo lo que ella ha hecho por mi. 

Expectations

All migrants have different expectations of what the United States is like, some seek economic opportunities to help the families they left in their country or to study. Some migrants come here to reunite with their families, to start a new life, to get ahead, and some to escape violent conflicts. What I am looking for here are new opportunities to be successful.

What I thought of the United States would be like what I saw on TV. When I decided to come I thought I would have new opportunities to have a good education, to be able to help my family that I left in my country. For me, the United States is a country of new opportunities. You can start a new life, go to school, learn to speak English, and be able to see new places that you have not seen.

When I attended my first day at Hampton Bays High School, it was a little uncomfortable since I didn't know anyone at school and I was always confused when I went to my classes, but there was a girl who helped me when I got lost and she was always with me the whole time during the school year.

Advice

Some advice for those who have just arrived in this country and recently entered school, I would like to tell you not to stop pursuing your dreams and to keep going. Do not stop going to school since the school provides you with great support to be somebody, have a better life and to get a good job in the future.

I hope that they establish well what their objectives are, that they never forget where they come from and what their cultures are, that they enjoy their youth to the fullest and that they do not depend on others to get ahead and simply attend school.

I thank my mother for bringing me to this country of new opportunities where I will be able to get ahead in the future and I hope to return everything she has done for me.
