Hampton Bays Middle School musicians in grades 6-8 recently earned first-place awards with a rating of excellent at the Music in the Parks festival in New Jersey. To earn the rating, the sixth, seventh and eighth grade chorus, band, harmonizers and jazz band each performed selections for judges. The students were also the recipients of the Esprit de Corps Award. Special congratulations to saxophonist Gustavo Tzitzimititla for being selected to receive a medal and award for his outstanding solo. Following the performances, the students enjoyed a day of rides and entertainment at Six Flags Great Adventure. The Hampton Bays School District extends its congratulations to the middle school students and music teachers on an amazing job.
