The Hampton Bays High School Virtual Enterprise team has learned that they have advanced to the National Business Plan Competition, to be held April 7 at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City. They are ranked in the top 10% of Long Island’s 140 teams.

The Hampton Bays team, ShadowFlex, is a virtual blackout window treatment business. They offer offers removeable, reusable blackout-panels that are easily installed and removed without any damage to your window frame or walls. Targeted toward individuals in temporary housing (apartments, dorms, etc.) that are prohibited from drilling into their walls or damaging their space.

To earn the spot in the April 7 competition, the team competed in two rounds of local/regional business plan competitions.

Now in its third year, the Hampton High School Virtual Enterprise introduces high schoolers to the world of business and provides them with the opportunity to create a virtual business from the ground up. They start with an idea, develop a business plan, and eventually build the business and manage its daily operations. The program also takes them beyond their own schools as they interact with other VE firms and students across the world and participate in VE competitions. They compete and present their plans at several events throughout the year.
