Hampton Bays High School science research students Christopher Roldan, Isabel Ospitale and Caitlyn Lupia recently presented their work at the Long Island Science and Engineering Fair in the JV division. They were among 170 students to present to judges for evaluation in numerous categories.
Roldan presented his project that investigated the “Direct Effects of Anthropogenic Noise on Actively Vocal Whales.” Ospitale spoke of her work on “Anthropogenic Disturbances and their Effects on Piping Plovers and their Ability to Nest and Reproduce,” and Lupia presented on “The Effects of Stigma during Pregnancy and Postpartum.”
The trio’s work will be featured again at the Hampton Bays High School Science Symposium on April 24 at 6 p.m.
