During their art classes recently, Hampton Bays Middle School sixth graders created their own cartouches — special nameplates used by Egyptians to encircle royal names. The students made the cartouches as part of an interdisciplinary journey back in time to explore the world of ancient Egypt. After studying the rich history and significance of the hieroglyphic writing system, they carefully designed their cartouches, incorporating Egyptian symbols to represent their names and gold watercolors to bring their artwork to life. Each cartouche was a unique reflection of both ancient traditions and modern creativity.
